Spiritual Growth ~ Christian Education ~ Worship
Fun and Fellowship ~ Reaching Out ~ Something for Everyone!
We celebrate the strength of this church’s fine music program. Under the leadership of our Minister of Music, Barbara Summers, our choir is well known in the community and region for it excellence and outstanding voices. Our morning worship is truly blessed to be filled such inspiring vocal music, and the talent of Ms. Summers on the organ. The church is also blessed with a music endowment that allows us to bring special guest soloists, accompanists, and musical groups to regularly enhance our worship experience. The children also join in singing special numbers in worship from time to time. New members of the choir are always welcome!
We are also blessed to have such a strong program of Christian Education. The Sunday Schooloffers an engaging morning of learning and sharing for our children. Following a special story or talk with them in worship, the children leave the sanctuary for their Sunday school. The program helps them learn about the love of God and Jesus, and how to translate that love into lives of caring and joy. We are very blessed to have the creative leadership in this program of our Church School Director, Rosamond “Yummy” Cady, whose love of children shines through all that we do, and motivates our other adult leaders and teachers.
There is a weekly adult education opportunity as well. Meeting most recently once each month on a Saturday, there are a men's and women's bible study sessions where a single scripture passage is discussed and tied into daily life. Thursday mornings at 10:00 in the vestry there is an informal book study and discussion - books vary in genre. Both are always open to any adults who wish to join in. See the Calendar for specific dates and times.
The church contributes substantially to mission work in our immediate vicinity, across the nation, and around the world. Some of the ministries we support include the the Monadnock Center for Violence, Friends of the Oglala Lakota Indians, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Monadnock Family Services, local food banks, and the many global missions of the United Church of Christ supported through our Wider Mission budget. The Board of Outreach also conducts mission education programs and engages in many other annual activities that provide assistance to church members and community residents in need.
The church also holds a spring and a fall rummage sale which provides needed income to the church and also serves as a community service, providing clothing and other goods at very low cost. During Lent a luncheon series is held that always draws great interest. An informal book group meets every Thursday at 10am - books range in genre. Also, the annual St. Patrick’s Dinner is a great time of food and fun. Additionally, there are occasional social events, dinners, and other activities that help to keep the fellowship warm and the atmosphere inviting.
